What does a life coach actually do?
A life coach partners with you on identifying goals, clarifying obstacles, creating an action plan, practicing skills, and reviewing progress. Coaching asks what you want to move toward and how you will know you are making progress. It does not diagnose anxiety, treat trauma, or replace a therapist. For people who are currently in therapy, coaching can reinforce everyday skills and accountability when everyone understands their role.
Begin with a direction, not a single appointment
Each program starts with a structured goal and wellness baseline. Together, we choose a specific end goal, identify practical obstacles, practice between-session assignments, and review what changes over time. The eight dimensions of wellness offer a broad reflection tool: emotional, physical, occupational, financial, social, intellectual, spiritual, and environmental. You decide which dimensions matter most to your goal.
Two commitments: six or twelve sessions
Six-session foundation: goal discovery and baseline, habit planning, application, barriers and refinements, a meaningful progress review, and a next-step plan. Twelve-session transformation: a longer runway for practicing skills, reviewing implementation, addressing setbacks, and completing a ninety-day reassessment. Session cadence and schedule are agreed during enrollment; specific improvement is never guaranteed.
Measurable progress without clinical claims
At enrollment we document a baseline: current goal confidence, the behavior you want to strengthen, and the frequency of a chosen routine. Later check-ins look at actual actions and obstacles. A formal review occurs at least every three months for continuing clients, using the same questions as the baseline where possible. You retain control of what personal information you disclose.
What about an app?
The ElevateMe companion platform is being developed to bring together learning content, music, journals, check-ins and progress summaries. It is not yet a live paid client portal. Until launched, the coaching program can use appropriate existing tools for session scheduling and nonclinical progress documentation.
